The nokkens are among the strangest creatures seen on Rubi-Ka. It appears to combine aspects of predatory animals and a large tree. The nokken, and it's lesser cousin, the fossegrim, are nonetheless considered plants, because their behavior and structure is more treelike than animal like, and their movements have the sound and appearance of bending tree branches. It is unclear how exactly such a cross could come about, though it is almost surely related to Omni-Tek genetic experimentation.

Nokkens are slow moving and powerful. They do not have a very fast attack, as compared to more mobile, animalian predators. They are, however, more likely than some large animalian predators to be found in social groups, and to attack in such groups. So far, the nokkens have only been found in isolated populations on Rubi-Ka, far away from most human interference.
