Pendpods are amphibious terraformers, and meant for
limited use in nearly completed terraforming projects.
These docile animals are used mainly for prevention of
algal blooms in newly created rivers. Their digestive
systems are capable of digesting radioactive substances,
extremely tough plant materials, and most forms of
xenobacteria encounterd in terraforming processes,
making them, in essence, the water filtration system of
a newly terraformed planet. Because they are so
important to the ecosystem, pendpods have been made
docile and largely unpalatable to larger predators like
worms and sabretooths.
